One thing you should know about me is that I love Detroit. I hate when people put it down! It's a city full of hustle & heart! We have so much going for us. I love when people ask me for recommendations in Detroit so I figured I'd write up a little blog post about my current favorites in the city. This isn't a complete list of my favorite places, just a little recap of the current go-to spots. I think this may be a regular blog post and I'll periodically write about my current faves at that moment.
Food
I would have to go with Johnny Noodle King for this one! I get the pork belly shoyu every time and it is SO good! Also, the house sake is amazing, I would definitely recommend it. I know noodles/ramen places are all the craze right now, so if you haven't been to JNK, you're missing out!
Shopping
My current favorite shops are in Midtown - City Bird and Nest. I love going in there and seeing if I can find a little treasure! I have the cutest round bag that I carry all the time from City Bird, it's in the photo above! These shops are right next door to each other, and also right by Jolly Pumpkin, Traffic Jam & Snug, and Motor City Brewing Works if you want to get some food and a drink!
Cocktails
This one was tough because honestly, there are so many good options! Since I want to keep this short and to current favorites, I decided to go with Grey Ghost. The atmosphere is super hip and cute. And the drinks are actually REALLY good. The bartenders are great and know how to mix up a great cocktail. It's a fun place to try a new drink.
Coffee
My current favorite coffee shops are Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters near Capitol Park and Ashe Supply Co. near Grand Circus Park. Aside from the coffee, Dessert Oasis has a great tea selection (try the peach)! Not to mention, Capitol Park currently has the Capitol Park Inn and some of the Downtown Detroit Markets. The area around Capitol Park has some shops and restaurants as well!
Ashe Supply Co. has a good cup of coffee and a comfortable atmosphere. They also make candles that smell AMAZING!
Yoga
Okay the coolest place to go to yoga is in one of the True North Quonset Huts! I mean, just take a look!
